Establishing\u00a0a Code\u00a0of Conduct\u00a0for the practice will help the entire team keep\u00a0on track&#8230;even in stressful situations!<\/p>\n<p>A Code of Conduct\u00a0is really about\u00a0thinking before reacting. Behaviorally, that means testing decisions and planned activities for &#8220;rightness&#8221; before implementing them.<\/p>\n<p>Here are 6 questions\u00a0to\u00a0help you create your own code of conduct:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Is it legal?<\/li>\n<li>Does it align with\u00a0my values?<\/li>\n<li>Will I be comfortable and guilt-free if I do it?<\/li>\n<li>Would I do it to my family and friends?<\/li>\n<li>Would I perfectly okay with someone doing it to me?<\/li>\n<li>Would the most ethical person I know do it?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/boipFIrptWw?rel=0\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>I suggest\u00a0a team meeting\u00a0(3 hours minimal) to establish\u00a0a Code of Conduct for the practice.\u00a0\u00a0Start\u00a0the meeting\u00a0by reviewing the Practice&#8217;s Core Values and Vision.\u00a0 Ask the entire team to share\u00a0how, when and where they feel the Core Values are not being supported.\u00a0 Utilize a\u00a0large easel pad and markers\u00a0to write down all the\u00a0concerns being shared.\u00a0 Discuss\u00a0the breakdowns that are happening.\u00a0 What current behaviors support the Core Values?\u00a0 What current behaviors need changing to support the Core Values?\u00a0 The behaviors you list that support as well as\u00a0the necessary\u00a0changes become\u00a0your new\u00a0Code of Conduct!<\/p>\n<p>It is very\u00a0important for the We Team (leadership team)\u00a0to be willing to lead by example\u00a0on whatever\u00a0is established as the\u00a0Code of Conduct.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u00a0are an\u00a0examples of commitments\u00a0from\u00a0a Code of Conduct.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Model the waddle you want to see<\/li>\n<li>Set and maintain high standards &#8211; no double standards<\/li>\n<li>Support a no gossip culture<\/li>\n<li>Communicate openly, honestly, and respectfully<\/li>\n<li>Treat patients and each other how you want to be \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 treated<\/li>\n<li>Resolve conflict by going to the source the same day if \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 possible<\/li>\n<li>Take ownership, follow through, and be accountable for \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 your mistakes<\/li>\n<li>Support each other and hold each other accountable to \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 the standards of behavior, communication, attitude and service<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Having a Code of Conduct will empower the entire team to support the Core Values!<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Even the best of us can\u00a0lose our way\u00a0in all the noise and hubbub\u00a0of\u00a0the\u00a0day to day stresses!
