Part 2"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>Training is often a culprit of lack of accountability.\u00a0<\/em><\/strong> It is difficult to complete a task if we are uncertain how it is to be done.\u00a0 Uncertainty lessens accountability!\u00a0 Set standards for the practice by defining one way instead of multiple ways.\u00a0 Standards create consistency and consistency escalates excellence.\u00a0 The more consistent we are the more accountable we become resulting in a higher performing team and practice.\u00a0 Provide personal training and cross training as well as entire team training to get everyone aligned on the same page.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/qdCy4WRt1sw\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Asking for help <\/strong><\/em>is being accountable.\u00a0 Give your team permission to ask for help when needed.\u00a0 Asking for help can often feel like a weakness when in essence it is being accountable to make sure the job gets done.\u00a0 There are some team members who have OCD \u2013 Over Committers Dysfunction.\u00a0 You will often here them say; \u201cI got this!\u201d\u00a0 when they have so many plates already spinning, they can\u2019t possibly get them all done.\u00a0 Saying yes can sometimes be less accountable then delegating or asking another person for help.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Prioritize tasks<\/em><\/strong> as there will be days even the entire team can\u2019t get everything done!\u00a0 If we communicate and get the rocks done, we will be okay.\u00a0 I utilize the rocks, pebbles, and sand analogy to help teams prioritize their responsibilities.\u00a0 A rock is anything that is important and urgent (needs to be done that day) or there will be negative consequences for the practice.\u00a0 The biggest rock is always the patient right in front of us.\u00a0 Everyone helps everyone with their rocks (as long as it is legal, ethical and within their licensure) before going on to their own pebbles and sand.\u00a0 Once all rocks are completed, the team member may move on to their pebbles.<\/p>\n<p>Pebbles are also very important but not urgent.\u00a0 Pebbles are never delegated because they can be done another day without affecting the practice negatively.\u00a0 Everyone is responsible for their own pebbles.\u00a0 A pebble can eventually become a rock if left undone based on change in urgency.\u00a0 For example, ordering supplies might become a rock if you must order that day, or you will run out of necessary supplies before they arrive.\u00a0 Even washing uniforms may become a rock if there are none available for the next day and it is close to closing.<\/p>\n<p>Sand is the filler to fill in open time with cleaning and organizing.\u00a0 Sand is also never delegated.\u00a0 Everyone is responsible for their own sand.\u00a0 This helps to prevent delegating the things that are less desirable.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Confirming<\/em><\/strong> by checking in when a task is completed is part of accountability.\u00a0 It keeps everyone in the loop and ends the night wondering\/worry of whether a certain task was completed.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Clearly defined consequences<\/em><\/strong> are necessary.\u00a0 An accountable high performing team is dependent on supporting the patients, the team, and the practice standards.\u00a0 Our job is whatever is legal, ethical, and within our licensure to help the team and practice thrive!\u00a0 \u00a0We must choose to support our patients, team, and practice if we want to be a part of the team!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Training is often a culprit of lack of accountability.\u00a0 It is difficult to complete a task if we are uncertain how it is to be done.\u00a0 Uncertainty lessens accountability!\u00a0 Set standards for the practice by defining one way instead of multiple ways.\u00a0 Standards create consistency and consistency escalates excellence.\u00a0 The more consistent we are the [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[2,3,4,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,16,215,191,39,51,1],"tags":[59,61,68,70,73,76,81,214,121,140,170],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v22.6 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<title>How to Encourage Accountability!
