{"id":996,"date":"2022-05-01T07:00:37","date_gmt":"2022-05-01T07:00:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.practicesolutionsinc.net\/blog\/?p=996"},"modified":"2022-05-01T14:37:24","modified_gmt":"2022-05-01T14:37:24","slug":"6-essentials-raise-level-performance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.practicesolutionsinc.net\/blog\/2022\/05\/6-essentials-raise-level-performance\/","title":{"rendered":"6 Essentials to Raise The Level of Performance!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>6 Essentials to Raise The Level of Performance!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Have you ever felt like you were banging your head against a brick wall trying to get certain team members to perform?\u00a0\u00a0Their highest aspirations of performance was to just get by or be just good enough!\u00a0\u00a0Well, if you have felt this frustration you are not alone.\u00a0\u00a0Substandard performance has become more of an epidemic than a scarcity.\u00a0\u00a0I have the privilege of facilitating in office Rise &amp; Shine Culture Camps nationwide for dental teams.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0I have found six essentials that will raise the level of performance by creating better relationships and consistent results!<\/p>\n<p><strong>We Team \u2013 United Leadership\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>United Leadership<\/em>\u00a0is the most important strategy.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0Without it, performance expectations will be ambiguous, and the team will conform to whatever are the lowest standards or expectations.<strong>\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>United Leadership starts with\u00a0getting the leadership team; what I refer to as the\u00a0<em>We Team<\/em>\u00a0aligned.\u00a0\u00a0The We Team is made up of all owner\/partner doctor(s) as well as the practice administrator.<\/p>\n<p><strong>W.O.W. Decision Making<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Second is a decision-making strategy.\u00a0\u00a0I coach We Teams to use what I refer to as\u00a0<em>W.O.W. Decision Making<\/em>.\u00a0\u00a0W.O.W. is an acronym for weed out weeds.\u00a0\u00a0A weed is anything that destroys a relationship, or makes others feel unwelcome, uncomfortable, or unsafe.\u00a0\u00a0<em>W.O.W. Decision Making<\/em> gives the We Team a positive, practical, and proven decision-making strategy.\u00a0\u00a0The<em>\u00a0<\/em>results are decisions that are consistent, fair and support the team, the patients, and the practice (and referring doctors for specialists).<\/p>\n<p><em>W.O.W. Decision Making<\/em>\u00a0is based on the following four fundamentals:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Patients, Practice &amp; Team!<\/em>\u00a0\u00a0What is in the best interests of the patients, practice, and team and not any individual (including doctors)?\u00a0\u00a0Specialists you would include Referring Doctors as well.<\/li>\n<li><em>Practical!<\/em>\u00a0\u00a0What makes common sense based on time, money, and people?<\/li>\n<li><em>Precedence!<\/em>\u00a0\u00a0What precedence is being set?\u00a0\u00a0If it is done once it becomes the expectation.<\/li>\n<li><em>Passion!<\/em>\u00a0\u00a0Is the We Team passionate enough about the decision to support?\u00a0\u00a0Rate 8 or above on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being high.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/S-Sh4oFNo4c\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>R.I.S.E. Implementation Process<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I teach teams the R.I.S.E. Implementation Process to help the team work together to co-create well-structured agreements that raise the level of performance.\u00a0\u00a0The agreements define how the team will do things and work together in the future.\u00a0\u00a0They include both the hard and soft skills.\u00a0\u00a0Co-creating clear agreements as a team gets everyone on the same page.\u00a0\u00a0R.I.S.E. is an acronym for Review, Implement, Sustain and Evaluate.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Review<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>What is working and what is not<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Implement change by defining the following:\n<ul>\n<li>What are we going to change<\/li>\n<li>Who is going to do it<\/li>\n<li>Who are we going to do it for<\/li>\n<li>When are we going to do it \u2013 including time, sequence and flow<\/li>\n<li>Where are we going do it \u2013 very specific location<\/li>\n<li>Why are we going to do it \u2013 benefit statements<\/li>\n<li>How are we going do it\n<ul>\n<li>Practice verbal skills<\/li>\n<li>Practice role playing<\/li>\n<li>Practice the entire physical walk through<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Create standard operating procedures or what I refer to as Culture Agreements<\/li>\n<li>Schedule the roll out date<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Sustain \u2013 It is vital for the new change to become a habit\n<ul>\n<li>It takes a range of anywhere between 17 to 257 days to form a habit depending on the difficulty with the average being 66 days\n<ul>\n<li>Give any new change at least 60 days to get comfortable before considering any changes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Be precise and consistent to form a habit much sooner\n<ul>\n<li>Same sequence and steps for every team member every time \u2013 there is only our way not my way.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Support the change positively in words, actions, and attitude<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Evaluate\n<ul>\n<li>Is the process still working effectively<\/li>\n<li>If not, what is the value and benefits in a change<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Accountability<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The complaint I often hear at my Culture Camps is that other people aren\u2019t accountable.\u00a0\u00a0The problem with accountability is we expect others to be accountable often before we are accountable.\u00a0\u00a0Accountability starts with us.<\/p>\n<p>It is vital that everyone is held equally accountable, no exclusions or exceptions or you divide the team.\u00a0\u00a0That includes doctors and managers as well.\u00a0\u00a0No double standards.\u00a0\u00a0Together make agreements on how\u00a0you hold each other accountable.\u00a0\u00a0Give each other permission to do so before there is an issue.\u00a0\u00a0This will enable everyone to feel confident and comfortable.\u00a0\u00a0Monitor daily at your daily huddle by discussing the previous day\u2019s successes and growth opportunities.\u00a0\u00a0Maintain as a team and update as a team when changes are necessary.\u00a0\u00a0No individual opt outs.\u00a0\u00a0Meet as a team if something isn\u2019t working to discuss, resolve, and maintain.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Appreciation\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Appreciation is a fundamental human need yet is often considered an unnecessary nicety. Niceties like please, thank you, and I appreciate you. Why should we have to interrupt our busy day to tell someone else we appreciate them?\u00a0\u00a0They should know that they are appreciated without having to have a pat on the back. Wrong! That little pat on the back is so powerful that 64% of Americans leave their job because of lack of it.<\/p>\n<p>So, what is so powerful about appreciation? Appreciation gives us purpose! Appreciation changes perceptions! Appreciation emits positivity! We all want and need to feel valued for who we are and recognized for our contributions and accomplishments.\u00a0\u00a0It\u2019s important for us to know that we truly make a difference.<\/p>\n<p>Look for reasons to show appreciation daily and BE the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be timely<\/li>\n<li>Be specific<\/li>\n<li>BE GENUINE<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Celebration<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Celebrate even the little things. We take things so seriously and are often in such a hurry that we don\u2019t allow time to celebrate. If we don\u2019t make time to celebrate, we will lose our joy for life.\u00a0\u00a0If our focus is always on the next patient or task we will get lost in the muck and mundane.\u00a0\u00a0We will miss the positive in the present moment and eventually we will lose our joy for our work.<\/p>\n<p>Celebrate by:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Looking for what is positive in the present moment.<\/li>\n<li>Being grateful for what is instead of complaining about what isn\u2019t<\/li>\n<li>Focus on the strengths of your co-workers not their weaknesses<\/li>\n<li>Stop and take a moment to celebrate together with a positive body pattern \u2013 for example, a big smile, thumbs up, high five or even a Ta-Dah!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Implementing these six essentials will empower your team to WORK together better and raise their level of performance.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>6 Essentials to Raise The Level of Performance!
